Interesting posts - beautiful looking or truly beautiful in nature/soul/essence?
This was the very topic that caused me to pen a free verse poem called

Looking Good?

What to wear (or not to?)
knowing clothes speak
complementing, betraying,
shielding, revealing
...ourselves?

Images - absorbed imperceptibly, constantly
- that we all 'buy'
shaping choices, constantly
pausing seldom to separate the cloth
from the person,
the body from the soul

Sleek skin, hollowed cheek, seductive mouth
image-selling, image-sought
and - if found - is prone to disappoint
since beautiful wrapping, once undone
often reveals an
unexpectedly vacant interior
....and a fool

A myriad of visual feasts
await to captivate,
mass-media tinsel
reflecting in its consumers.

Plainly-wrapped precious gifts
are rendered inferior,
perhaps never to be seen
....or shared
in a world that prefers
the beautiful-looking
to the beautiful.

Those models and stars are all nice and yet...

So are these everyday women -
My friend J for her strength and positivity and adaptability when facing challanges
My friend T for her kindness, self acceptance and her warm smile
My Mum for her quirkyness, honesty and loyalty
My sister for her humour and her unique spirit
My other sister for her ability to pull others through a crises, she thrives in crises situations and always knows what to do!

An old friend from school who was very beautiful and popular and who always had a smile for me and time to stop in the street for a chat. (we were in very different social circles)

My friend A who lives each day, owning herself - even her flaws shine as she owns them brilliantly

I have so many supportive and wonderful women in my life.

Absolutely...
And where as I can fully appreciate true beauty ( and I mean true natural beauty... Not this air brushed rubbish etc )... I can recognise even more the beauty of one's soul... Beauty that comes out from within and radiates far wider than a mere magazine page, or social media site....
True beauty shines out and radiates across the whole of the universe...and beyond !!

I agree

Beautiful people can sometimes be "ugly"... Though I have not met very many in my lifetime.
I know plenty of women though who natural beauties inside and out.

I live in a multicultural beach town and meet all kinds of amazing people from all walks of life, all different shapes and sizes, all different ages and nationalities, cultures and more. I love how different and unique we all are.
The thing that stands out to me is people's inner confidence and embracing self acceptance.

They radiate from the inside out! It is really beautiful!

To Red ...
Yes completely agree... ( The only "ugly" is ones personality)
True beauty is when a person looks right into your eyes and gives you the biggest smile.
And that smile lights up their whole face, and they are beaming.
And then you glance down and see they are strapped into a wheelchair with no limbs.
That is true beauty...

A confident woman is very sexy..
Confidence is nice to see in general.

I too like to see people of different shapes and sizes.
