Somehow I got side tracked by listen to my favorite professor (Cornel West)
Took a side track to listen to some John Coltrane.
I will spare posting any vids. of Cornel West since it does not have much to do in the way of indigenous,,,, but your free to check him out.
Though he does talk and advocate for the indigenous wrongs and rights.

Yeah, he probably does toot.
I was drawn to the way he ended some of his sentence with,,, HMM?!!
Also his message was good.

I won't really touch on "smelling"or"seeing" the Spirit since I might not fully comprehend.
But I relate to sensing the essence of a person "Live and direct" to amount I am able.

I started at age 10 thru about 12 (almost daily). My little developing brain suffered for it.
I had no doubt that it robbed things from my development.
Though I came up with mental rewirings enough to get by, it was my vocal communication skills that suffered the most and longest.

So I will repeat just to emphasize, Dang that sniffing petrol, so KIDS don't do it, PLEASE!!!!

Uncle Bob had also said: "I too sniffed petrol."
So, as you know, people do recover …

There is a movie called “SAMSON & DELILAH” about petrol sniffing:

Because of the sniffing, the other main character in the movie had become mute ….

Alternatives/'Ferals' are really good value planting trees.
When an area is being reforested, they turn up like an army to help to do the job.
Though ‘our’ local Elders were bewildered as to why; - when they came to the Aboriginal camp, the 'Ferals' started to play Amerinds LOL.

Perhaps Mr Walker as Elder has the right type of charisma/energy to draw the non-indig. people into acknowledging the local culture thus enabling the whole community come together there (?)

Ahhhh, yeah, I had seen a couple of Mr. Walkers vids. in the related vids. column, I was going to click on some and see what Mr. Walker might be about.
I held back and let his original message stand, as I still find it a solid message.
It seems Mr. Walker has gone Alternative on us.

I am all too familiar with the Alternatives and the trouble that brings.
This is why many ceremonies are closed and not open like they use to be.
It can bring in many unwanted elements and distractions to a respectful and Sacred and Holy coming together for the betterment of a community or family.
The Alternatives looseness or Whack-a-doodle behavior can be too much to bare on what is a strict protocol of rites and rituals.
I don't blame people from shutting off ceremonies, but it is not the natural order of respect but Methinks it is necessary to
maintain any decency.

P.S.
Any "real" ceremony takes concentration of focus of everyone's energy on a singular purpose.(In most cases)
So, in my experience Alternatives bring a discombobulated energy Methinks.
Which fights the singular purpose which is usually some type of healing or wholeness.

The vid. in post #936 is what I would call a performance even though Mr. Walker referred to it as Sacred dance or something.
Well maybe and I sure am in no position to say what is or is not Sacred about someones traditional dance.
Though in my experience with the type gathering I seen in post #936 I would suspect frog-skins (money) was on the focus agenda.
Which is the case many times in gatherings such as these in my experience.
But again I am in no position to say.
I am simply spewing opinion from a far.
Also one might think I have a problem with frog-skins (money), Au contraire.
I have experienced many problems when frog-skins (money) and Ceremony mix.
In my opinion frog-$kin$ is just like any other type of useful utilitarian skin.
They serve many purposes.

It is a tree-planting-fun-day with storytelling dancing at the end methinks.
But yes, those are performances.
Serious Ceremonial Dancing is something else. They are “Men’s business” or “Women’s business” and not open to general public.
Those take a long time to prepare and last for days …

No, I don’t think so. The tree seedlings were perhaps donated and the Ferals are volunteers.. So, they just made a festive day out of it.
My concern was about stabilizing the riverbank and if those trees were flood tolerant fruit trees?
Haven’t been there, but I imagine those river flats with wet palm forests or this kind of native vegetation and trees (and then they’ll become wildlife corridors etc):

I don’t think these styles quite work together lol. They are just too different:

So, it doesn’t matter what one does – people will turn one’s culture into a New-Age-Potpourri.

Must say, I would have gotten right into this had I been there …
