Something I've been trying to write for a long time!

Rumour has it
Ancient ancestry
Runs through my blood
Contributing
To a tiny part
Of my genetic coding
And holding the key
To one of the many rooms
Of my total cultural identity
My original spiritual heritage.

I hail from
The watery lands of abundance
'The place of many fishes'
Which caucasian men overfished
In the name of development
Yet today Men and women
Are lucky enough to hook even one of them.

I walk alone
On mysterious land
Seeking to understand
The knowledge
Of the descendants-
Of the lost tribes
Of sparse lands.
I walk with a spiritual disconnect
From all the tribes and clans
Across the planet-
Dislocated communities
From all the countries
All the races, cultures and heritages
Across the board
Of our shared humanity.

I be one of the lucky ones
Born with white skin
So an automatic ticket
To entitlement of acceptance
Instead of displacement
Yet not quite blessed enough
To acquire the resources
Which hold the potential
To catalyse a
Change of course
To unify a silent revolution
I wish that I could find the key
To some peaceful resolutions.

We all miss out
On valuable knowledge
When entire cultures
Are wiped out
Or 'cleansed' the phrase
The dominant forces
Love to adopt
Using such a holy word
With such hateful remorse
Yet spoken so freely
With self righteous discourse.

So many lost languages
Destroyed art
Broken dreaming-
White mans religious dominance
All in the name of
'Development'.

And while my inheritance
May be minuscule
Even non existent
I'm still hurting
From the inheritance
Of disconnection
Of segregation
Of ignorant hatred.

Before you are all dead and gone
Before my soul has moved on
It will be up to me
To mend one tiny aspect
Of our shared and damaged vibration.
For shared pain
Is collective pain-
The energy of
A nations history
Is the inheritance
Which you left to me.

Our hearts can mend our inner pain
our hearts are one with the nations strain
In spirit we are one in gain
to open up the generational pain
of all those who have lived and strived
you understand the inward hive
As the queen bee and all her crew
work as one in provision for you
You learn the nature of all in gain
you learn that one lost will often strain
the load on all those worker bees
each one contributing, each one in need
The sweetness in provision, they all have made
the loss of any hive will portray
that honey maybe one elixir we share
but loss of one colony will not compare
To a colony and nation as one to give
each one contributes so all can live.

Your response means so much to me! I struggled finding an appropriate way to express myself on this topic because of the cultural disconnect I personally feel in this country. I never know if I am expressing myself in a sensitive way or if I may be inadvertently offensive.
