Yes, I can see how you might think that was delusional or the poetry of an idealist only...

The thing is, what was the source of such an experience?

I say we don't know and I say that we need for it to be whatever we make of it. it doesn't mean the whole world is in that grain of sand though. It doesn't mean it isn't.
It just means it was an expereince....beyond that is something else.

Everything just is..even the grain of sand..what you make of it is only your own personal experience of it...

You bet it is, the experience is only secondary to that which IS, it is never that, but still it is the experience of that.

That it came from your own need to beleive or something like that?

No, but first I would have to feel the "need" to believe in something
to answer your question
Now, to give your question it's due...
...
Hmm, I believe the Sun will rise tomorrow, do I 'need" to believe in that?
I guess maybe, it's weird to think about , I'm here now and happy...no,
I don't "need" to believe in that.....ok, I need to believe a chair will be sturdy when I sit in it.
That is a need I have.
But you're referring to a metaphysical, spiritiual, supernatural thing?
I don't need to believe in anything.
And I'm too self centered anymore to "want everyone" to know anything....last year I cared...
Now I just have moments of bursting with excitement and blurting out how
I got so happy....but I don't really "want" anyone to get it any more...not really...
bec it will happen when it happens...or not.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

Yes of course, we all should ask questions, but for myself I can only answer from my own experience, and that is all I will ever share.
