Very interesting Sky. Yes I can see now that you come from "good stock". Good "roots" so to speak.

However, I'm still wondering if it's all gone to your head just a little bit because they didn't have Harrods in medieval times, just markets where you could trail round in the rain and puddles getting all your clothes filthy and maybe find a couple of cabbage leaves that had fallen off to boil in some water to make soup .
No my dear, I fear you would be better served rummaging around boot sales and staying within the boundaries of your "station" ....
And another little word of advice, don't go into Harvey Nicks to buy a carrier bag and then show it off to get your bargains from Aldi LOLOL...

But seriously , very interesting .
It's nice to know where you hail from.

I know I have definite roots to Hull and Leeds .

It's a small world Angel,

Ancestry DNA Matches
Margaret De La Pole
1327–1401
BIRTH 1327 • Hull.

DEATH 1401 • Hornby.

20th great-grandmother.

Harvey Nicks is a Shop I've never been in, must try it out of curiosity. I have been in Harrods years ago but only cos I wanted to spray the expensive Perfumes, I came out smelling like a ...... handbag, or mybe a Medieval Market Square....

Never been in Harrods. Been in Harvey Nicks when they opened a branch in Leeds. My niece got a job on the perfume counter !!!

Yes, a very small world indeed !
When I saw the name Margaret de la pole I got a strange instant twinge of regocnition .
Then I realised it's because I've seen a "de la pole" street or avenue in Hull.

Of course , in those days there was no travelling abroad or emigrating like nowadays and all the travel to different countries.
For example , my son now lives in Philippines, married to a Filipino and has a son . So naturally, that ancestry has changed dramatically from centuries ago when mostly people didn't go across the water.
They used to class going "abroad" as maybe travelling from the north of England to the south !

Yesterday, I came across a family reunion some of my Mother's relatives held in North Carolina, USA.

Some of our family ancestors lived in what would become the USA as early as the mid 1660's. One ancestor traveled back and forth from England. Would be interesting where he went in England.
