Why do we feel we need to praise God?

" Why do we feel we need to praise God?"

I'd expand this a little. We feel an urge need to praise and worship (worth-ship) something. Be it God, ourselves, money, power, love, etc. Religion exists to limit the power of ego, and connect us to the whole. We can praise selfishness and greed, or unconditional love and beauty. Division or wholeness. Choosing God (or whichever sacred name you prefer) is choosing wholeness.

"I didn't ask to come here."

My understanding is that we didn't come here from somewhere else, nor were we created from nothing. We are an expression of life that is ever present, but has the ability of a self awareness of separateness. The apple doesn't ask to grow on the tree, it doesn't come into the world from another place, it is just part of the overall process of life.
