Yes, I know St Francis well. The key here is "interfaith", and that's OK with me. Perhaps not exactly Christian, or Buddhist for that matter. It's simply coming together to where we can meet.

Thomas Merton was a very famous Roman Catholic monk who also worked hard at bringing Buddhist and Christian Contemplation into one thread of divine experience. Anyway there is a very similar prayer thread here, I will need to read through it too.. Peace.

I heard by a monk that the shortest, and at the same time one of the strongest prayers is:

"O Lord, have mercy on me!"

or the extended variant:

"O Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner!"

If I'm not mistaken these two may be the same for several different religions.

Christians may extend it by adding "Jesus Christ" in it.
