Ok. Before I open a new thread: What is the difference between awakening and enlightenment?

IMO when there is joy, there is enlightenment.

Here's the Buddhist model and I'd say Stream-enterer is the first flash of Awakening, Once-returner & Non-returner are further Awakenings on the path to Enlightenment and Arahant is full Enlightenment.

I'd also say each progression isn't a little step but a huge step and on orders of magnitude, and there are also probably lots of additional Awakening steps between these main stages.

It's also said that first flash of Awakening is the most staggering as it's so far outside the normal realm of experience.

The other thing I'd say is these aren't simply beliefs, philosophies or reasoned thinking but a fundamentally different way of "knowing". It's beyond mind and intellect.
