My personal favourite is electric fan white noise, which I find especially soothing. There’s a particular video of it which I play on YouTube sometimes in bed, I first tried it about a year ago, and since then I find that it’s greatly improved the quality of sleep I can get.

TCL - I hear you. I have a sound machine and I use the ocean wave setting. I literally can't sleep without it. In fact, if I forget to turn it on, I wake up in the middle of the night wondering what's different and why can't I sleep. Then I get my ocean waves going again and that helps me drift back to sleep.

I have a sleep regime I started to develop in 1999, and now sleep 8-10 hrs nightly. I'll print it later. But not from pharma, all supplements and includes 1/2mg Melatonin.

Since no one asked I'll post what works for me anyway:
I start my sleep regime about 2 hrs before I plan to hit the pillow which is 11:30PM....every night.
9:45Pm I take 500mg Inositol and 1//2mg Melatonin
10:45 PM or so:
500mg L Tryptophan
50mg B 6
1-2 Calm Forte' tablets (homeopathic)
This is it for my great 8+ hrs of deep restorative sleep.
One can adjust the above for their own bodies, learn how to get your body the sleep it needs.
Sleeping is so important and very ,much so for weight loss.

What helps me to sleep:
Quieting the mind does the trick for me. I am out after 1 minute give or take.
If I don't quiet my mind, I might be up all night.

Happiness is the result of an enlightened mind whereas suffering is caused by a distorted mind.

I find that going for a short walk before bed helps, because it send blood around muscles and joints and relaxes them.

Exercise and a light supper help me to sleep, but I also have to keep my mind off that self destructive thought merry go round. I have a few jedi mind tricks to help with that.
