A Baby

There was a lot going on in this dream. It was a very busy place. It might have been a party or gathering or some sorts but I can't say that with certainity. I entered an indoor area where a young woman was caring for a baby near a window. My mother was also present, overlooking her. The young woman, I feel, had become tired of caring for the baby. I happily took and held the baby, facing away from the window and my mother. I anticipated that the baby would vomit over my shoulder and down my back. That then happened, but I seemed to take it incredibly well. There was this sense that it might have troubled me, yet it didn't. I laughed about it, continuing to hold and care for the baby, before eventually leaving to seek a bathroom to bathe. During that moment, I suspected that people would see the vomit on my back and thought about intentionally drawing their attention to it, to make a joke of it, to let them know that I was aware of it.

I am not certain of what to make of this dream, but I wonder if perhaps there is significance in my mother's presence. I wonder if perhaps this baby represents an aspect of myself that I am learning to care more of and to take responsibility for so that my mother does not have to. She needn't worry.
