I meant to use the term 'Born Again Christianity' in a loose way, perhaps as an umbrella term and as a descriptor. I think people in general know there is
such as a thing as Born Again Christianity and there are several churches which can be identified as 'Born Again' and they themselves
identify as 'Born Again'. These churches seem to be characterised by very definite and condemning readings of the Bible eg. if you don't do this...
then this is going to happen and if you do that this will happen... I find their readings myself very narrow minded however I don't feel the people who hold
these views are condemned to hell for example, I feel their unfortunate involvement with such narrow minded views is somewhat imprisoning to them but that
is about the extent of my condemnation of them. Thanks.

Aw, that's too bad, really...the Charismatic Churches and pastors I know are not into that at ALL! And they certainly are into being
Born Again and being Bap in the Holy Spirit and speaking in Tongues
and big time into healing people...and the promises of God I notice, too;
not condemning of others.
I wouldn't be part of anything that did that...ha, and I have walked out of many sermons, lemme tell ya!

It's good that you have found the better side of Born Again Christianity. I suppose too many times I have heard them say you are going
to hell to people who haven't taken Jesus as their lord and saviour. So the lovely lady down the street who is of no religion or a different religion
to Christianity, who lives a full and meaningful and loving live harming none is going to hell ? That teaching alone is absurd not to say wrong
and those who hold such views are damaging themselves, that was my main point really. However, that must be the extreme side of 'Born Again Christianity'
and I accept that and hope I haven't given the impression that all Christians are like this. Hello all other types of Christians !!! lol

There was another time when Jesus said “come follow me”. It was when He was speaking to the fishermen. It is recorded that they left their nets and followed him. That same call goes out to us. It is helpful to understand the symbolism of ‘nets’. Nets which we have are the things that entrap us from following the truth. Maybe prejudices or stereotypes……maybe even the ‘net’work we are in……. |

As a corollary to the previous post: John 15:13….”Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” If one reads this as suggesting or implying physical death they could miss the greater meaning. Lay down your ego…your self absorption…and direct your attention beyond yourself. Put aside all those things just like you are called to put aside your ‘nets’.
