the school trip means you're learning something, and in a "hands on" manner
(rather than through books). to eat is to consume what becomes a portion of
yourself, so your lessons will become part of your make-up. the skipping back
and forth makes me think of bilocation, but it may just be a way to emphasize
that you get a clear picture of what's about to transpire.
from there, you become an active observer for the most part, simply watching
and following a man as he has an adventure. his mishaps, and self-directed
rescue seem to be the procedures you're meant to take special notice of (it's as
if you've taken snapshots of these things and metabolized the info for later use).

i'm apt to view his tale as that of someone who has the world crumble beneath
him -- as if 3D reality can no longer serve him. he gets deposited in some great
body of water, which may correlate to the vast subconscious or some such.
rather than become hopelessly lost, he manifests the means to elevate from
the situation, which feels like "ascension". he winds up on the far side of
some enclosure, where you are not yet privy to, but the doors are of glass
panels, so i imagine that you might peer through if you've got that inclination.
the lesson for you to take heed of is in delivering yourself into a higher realm
of being, if and when the world seems to crumble out from under you.
you've got the tools needed for that operation if the situation presents itself.
