i dont think so, what it does is it releases you from the anger and any other negative emotions relating to the situation, that negative energy doesn't hold power over you anymore. As for the individual that hurt you he or she has their lessons to learn and will have to evolve past that behavior

I agree with Rosewater.Their Karmic debt does not lie with you per se.It is a lesson that both of you had to have happen in your lives. So forgive and then forget about it.

you cant relieve a person's karma owed to you by forgiving them, however, that is still the best course of action for yourself, forgiveness opens the heart to Love, and that is always a good thing...the reason you cant affect another's karma by your forgiveness is that it is their debt, their lesson, if they dont learn it by paying back the karma, THEY will have to repeat it, not you, your forgiveness frees YOU of having anything to do with that karmic debt...

**shrug** if someone i've loved and trusted hurts me bad enough i eventually become indifferent. their "karma", their spiritual progression becomes "none of my business".

I don't know why, but I think i came back as someone who's lovey dovey, forgive without forgetting. My life changed when I started meditating, I learned to tame my ego and forgive people even when there's no wrong on my part. I think I came back to learn the art of loving people who hurts me, cheats me and stole from me.
