Another Painting
I did this painting of Robbie Fowler for my son who is a big LFC fan. At the time Fowler was a huge success and the fans loved him.

Sorry the above painting is a bit blurred but it’s an old photo.
A bit of a story here. When my son left australia to live in Liverpool UK Fowler was doing a book signing in town so my son took the painting along and Fowler signed that as well. Apparently he loved the painting and even recognised the player behind him, which was Giggs from Man U.
I was real chuffed about that cos it meant I must have done a good job for him to actually recognise a player from my work.

You not only capture the anatomy and textures of clothing very well, but the dynamics leap into life, and I love how the feller behind is a little bit blurry so the guy in front really pops.

Hey that’s so good of you to say Gem.
Yes I purposely made him a bit blurred, and the background as well in order to create some distance.
I was trained using the Old Masters Technique and we had to copy painters work such as Vermeer, Renoir, Rubens etc. this is where I learnt about textures, perspective and how to give everything a three dimensional look using different tones.
Once you know these techniques, it’s easy to paint anything. I’ve taught hundreds of people ranging from youngsters, elderly, special needs and they all have grasped it pretty well!
