Looks like the one on the right has decided to act in faith and follow its instincts ... Bravo ducky!
Many years ago, while living in the bush, I had chickens. One was sitting on eggs.
A wild duck, also sitting on eggs, was attacked and taken. Only thing left from the nest was one egg.
I gave the egg to the chicken to sit on. Eventually all the eggs hatched, and mother chicken fed the duckling as if it were its own.
One day, I heard a large commotion. It was mother chicken fretting and pacing back and forth along the edge of the dam.
Duckling was in his element, swimming around as if nothing was wrong.
It took a while for poor mother chicken to accept the duckling for what it was - a duck. |
