Looking into this familiar reign
The fearful teen under constant strain
I remember it well
A difficult pain

From the covers I blamed
Casting all fears inwardly
Into an isolated strain

Dealing only where I could deal
Slamming doors shut!
Keep them all
At arms length
A necessary must!

No one
Will take
A piece of me
You can stay
Well away!
Don’t project
All your stuff
And pretend
Your ok!

Demands, directions
Must do
You will
This way, you’ve been told
Just swallow this
Bitter pill!

Oh the angst
Oh the misery
In a world gone mad
Adults consumed
By so much good and bad!

Your liable, who’s liable?
How do you drown out their fears?
Their forgotten memories
I just soak up those tears!

This is life
This is it!

You landed
Me here
I didn’t ask!

Right into
The midst
Of your well
Trodden path!

I don’t want to talk
Don’t even look at me ever
Don’t say the wrong thing
Or I’ll scream

I’m struggling down here
Can’t you see inside me?

Just this once
Be quiet
Let me feel

Your bluff!

You say I’m the problem!
Yet I say it’s you!
I’m the one that needs fixing

You’d feel my pain
You’d feel my struggles
You’d feel all the blame

You’d know what I’m dealing with

You wouldn’t run from yourself
From your feelings
And all those demands!

When I grow up
I’ll have to sift through this pain
These struggles
These fears
These broken
Inner frames

Build my own picture
Of a life of my own
Not yours or others
So please
Lay off my phone!

Give me a break!

To be so fake!
