sky, something you might find interesting is the Woman's Bible. It might empower you to see the Bible in a more progressive light.
Have you tried looking at some of the things only women were able to do in the Bible such as being able to anoint Jesus with oil?

You raise some intriguing points.
Jezebel and Ahab have indeed been vilified in the Bible, but their stories unquestioningly "were written by the victors which have a tendency to view the losers in a negative light". It is quite possible that Jezebel and Ahab were inaccurately portrayed ... but I'm not sure how one can investigate this further. It's an intriguing point that you raise....especially on the point of sexual suppression as there seems to be an obsession with sexuality in the Abrahamic religions.  |

A person can always look at Archaeology which, to me,
seem to show the 'losers' in those wars seemed to have more openness about sexuality then we seem to have today.

Sexuality is a very intriguing topic as it covers such a wide range of behaviors ... some of which
are quite loving while others can be quite problematic. |
