they knew
they had to go through
periods
of plenty
as well as
periods
of famine.

It was just the way things are.

Roll with the punches
as it were?

Now in our infinite wisdom
we've done away with that
and with a lot of other
things
that are much more natural to us
than what we've got...

by for example
growing crops
year round
nonstop.

and in the process
created
a whole other set of problems
that we are now also
trying to mediate
while still we try
to find
whatever it is
we today think we've lost...

but none of this means
what we say
we don't want
just goes away

it just means
there is a still more
unpleasant
way to get fed
when we reject
the main course...

and giving them reasons
to do just that

was one of those things
I tried to squirm
my way out of

deep inside
I wouldn't be allowed

and when I did it wrong
I would be lambasted.

I still
feel that way
deep inside
but
now
that I've seen

of why

have to be

I just accept
this is what god wants of me
and realize
that not only
is it foolish
to fight with the will of god
but
I find it
not very wise
not to accept help
when god
is doing what he has to
to try to save my life

and all just because other people wouldn't approve.

not that this isn't uncomfortable
but
that is one of many lessons
drilled into me

quit fighting
just to try to be more comfortable.

and my other all time favorite

quit expecting
life to be fair.

and that has to be enough.

but honestly
he is just a little tired
of trying to act appropriately
of trying to be reasonable

besides as usual
they never cared
when they did it to him

which means noone else will take responsibility

and he's gotta fix it

it promises that if he does fix it
he will get a certain thing
a certain thing that he very much wants.

But that is wrong
he's seen lucy
in action
often enough
to know

that all he'll get
if he does try to fix it
is just another kick to the face.

So he hates that song.
