How would you define a person?

What is a 'person'? There are many people who would not call God a person. Is being a person superfluous to spirituality? Certainly it seems the case that people are unimportant in the grand scheme of things, because they die like flies.

If you are God pretending to be an individual where does that leave personhood?

For me the God that I am is the Person that I am. God is the I am, pure personality. At the same time God transcends the personal. God is both pure Being and the ground or field out,of which being or the person arises.

A lot of people it seems to me come to the same kind of conclusion and actions. They contemplate their unhappiness and fear and so on, their negative thinking and what that leads to as far as experience and actions, and come to the conclusion the only way to find happiness is to somehow get free of their negative thinking patterns. One cannot control their thoughts. Thoughts are largely made in the subconscious and brain. So then the answer is not to "get rid of them" as one can't. The answer is to not identify with them. To separate oneself from them. It is never really we are the thinker or our thoughts. We are not this body either. We are not the brain and the content it creates. What's that saying, we are not a human having a God experience, we are a soul (God) having a human experience.

We can change our human experience by changing our relationship with our body and mind. Change our relationship with our thinking and thoughts.

“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.”
― Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose

“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.”
― Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

Change how much you focus on thought or pay attention to thought, or give "reality" to thought and you change your experience of now.

Great post imo Maisy, a lot of good information. But who is we. We is generally taken to be body. It then becomes a question who changes human experience. It is a spiritual change (awakening) as well. Consider soul (spirit) is having the experience. We still see it as body that changes. We do not want to realize that soul has free-will just as body does. We never imagined this. It is soul having a learning experience.

Maybe we are God having God's experience and the confusion is misinterpreting it as human experience?
