Benefits of fasting...

Presenting a highly informative thread on the benefits of fasting...

https://www.allaboutfasting.com/bene...f-fasting.html

In eastern medical and physical fitness systems, fasting is said to result in increase of prana/chi which results in better health and deeper states of meditation.

I have myself observed that my meditation or practice of mindfulness is subsequently of a higher quality when I have fasted and missed a lunch.

My interest in fasting came up after I read a book on it highlighting its advantages, especially in healing. I have noticed that fasting enabled me to recover from diseases like cold, fever, constipation much faster, and I usually get over it in a day or two.

In the past I used to suffer from colds and fevers for a week or more. Fasting worked well for me in this regard, though I would ask people to consult their physician before undertaking such exercises so as to be on the safer side. Fasting will not work for people with type 1 diabetes .

Fasting has been proved by research to be effective in reducing risk of cancer or cancer growth rates.

Hello Ajay, thank you for this post on fasting and the links provided. I've also noticed that I can meditate more easily after fasting and also for my overall health. And as a bonus my mood improved exponentially! I'm trying to do intermittent fasting now.

@PinkFlower

Thanks for your insights.

Fruit diet for the day, is also a good way of fasting for those who cannot do full or intermittent fasting. It similarly has a positive effect on my meditation.

My life changed after each of my many fasts. Not that this is a contest ---
but after five days...may I just say, wow.
Intention is was very imp for me..as in doing it to be closer to God...
that can be said in many different ways...to get to your center,
to clear your chakras, to generally get 'higher', whatever.

Oh, If a person is doing it to sleep better or for colon health I can't say it would 'life changing'.
All fasts are wonderful for whatever reason.
Glad fruit all day was mentioned.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I don't believe it. What I say is, having a well balanced whole food diet is what makes a difference, and hacks that could be implemented in addition to that make no significant difference. Hence, if your diet can be improved somehow, then go for that.

If occasionally fasting works well for you then all good, but it's the quality of the diet (+ sleep) that prevents diseases and makes you fire on all cylinders, whereas fasting or not fasting isn't important.

What I have noticed is that animals fast..... and they generally get better.

They seem to have an internal 'Doctor'.

@Miss Hepburn It's interesting to hear about your fasting experience. I haven't taken such an intense approach otherwise I'll be floating in space :)
@ajay00 Fasting can be a powerful practice, bringing transformation to the body, mind, and spirit. Additionally, I've discovered that consuming fruit after fasting is more agreeable to my body type :)
