The Unvirtuous Man
The unvirtuous man
Is like a sailor lost at sea
Without a rudder for direction
He can see the stars at night
And rests in the calm waters
But flounders upon daylight
The ocean currents are strong
They drag him here and there
Intimately he knows turbulent waters
One day comes he tires of the struggle
And the fight with the ocean
So he builds a rudder
Built with an newfound humility
The ill passions fall away
As the distant shores guide him home
A virtuous man, they are honest,
respectful, courageous,
forgiving, and kind
They do the right thing,
and don't bend to impulses,
urges or desires
Acting according to values and principles
Some might say good qualities are innate,
But who is so perfect all the time
