I've heard that, and tried to talk about it to a friend once, but now I'm hearing a lot from him "Well, you chose the life you had/have, what are you learning from it?" and I think I can't imagine choosing it... he does say I have incredible strength from it, that I endure, but still... I don't look at it as something I need to understand, it's just a way of seeing the world and living life. To me it's about taking responsibility for everything, not feeling sorry for myself or blaming anyone.. so I can be free to improve my life. I've heard people say things like 'it's in your genes', 'you're that way because of your parents', or 'it's Gods will', or 'those are the cards you were dealt.' If that's what someone wants, be my guest, I'd rather take responsibility and work on improving my life instead of settling for less.

That's a great story! That's good you didn't just settle for losing the property and stood up for yourself. It sounds like you have healthy self-esteem. I'm slowly learning that myself. There's so much I've let be robbed from me in the past, I don't want to do that anymore.

It is just another way of trying to answer the age old question of why bad things happen to good people and so on...I often wonder why it is that we have to find an answer for everything in life? I believe in taking responsibility for my life and improving myself, but for me it is just how life is...Things happen in life we have no control over...isn't saying we choose it in another life really just another excuse or way of answering the question in the OP? Not trying to start a fight, this is just how I am seeing it.

I absolutely believe that everything happens for a reason, and that there is divine timing. I also firmly believe that we may not always understand why something happens the way it does, or when...sometimes it can take weeks, months or years, before the reasons become clear to us (if they ever do....)
Most of the time, I find that we just need to trust that there is a reason - it's not about trying to find a reason - just accepting that it has happened, and you need to simply deal with it and keep moving forward.

Yes I think there is a divine timing to things...a divine order amongst the chaos.

Nice discussion, nice topic.
I find many things difficult but this one I kind of understand for myself.
After life, we review and think about how things went, our input, what we did and did not do / accomplish, and after some time, we must go back again, to pick up where we left off, so we can't just jump in anywhere without giving it thought. We are guided, accompanied, by elders, by mentors, that show us why this or that could be a good 'program' for us. To me it's seems kind of natural, I believe you accept everything before coming back, and then you forget it all before incarnating again.
Good luck to everyone, blessings.
