Seems we have
-what people believe because of the Bible.
-Then, there are those that believe something for whatever reason.
-Then, we have those that believe what they have felt, experienced or been shown within.
-Maybe some that use their common sense....no deep profound supernatural Revelation involved.
(I mean, revealed to them)
This is usually what happens with a 'sin' question.
(Oh, sorry, I was giving an unnecessary summary.
You can ignore me.)

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru.

The Word Sin...
The first time the word 'Sin' is actually used in the OT is found in Genesis 4:7 where God said to Cain: ' If you do well, shall you not be accepted? and if you do not well, SIN lies at the door. And unto you shall be his desire, and you shall rule over him.'
Sin is an act, and Original sin implies a natural tendency to commit sinful acts.
They are different.....

Actually the scripture you partially quoted actually begins in verse 6 and reads: "Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast?"
Emphasize is put on the word Lord (Yahweh) as opposed to using the word God (Elohim).

If one studies in the Old Testament about 'sin', they probably will get a head ache.

What people call "Original Sin" can not be found in the Bible. It is implied.
Jews do not believe in 'Original Sin'. The idea of 'Original Sin', emerged during the 3rd and 4th century. It was not a teaching of Jesus.

We may consider sin as being the state of disconnect and blindness which occurs when we lose sight of being part of the whole and become instead parasite upon the whole.

Let’s take it slow ...
God alone is, nothing else is.
God is love in Absoluteness, unconditional, all encompassing.
We are as He, born of His essence (let’s say, spirit)
What did we as spirit do, to be termed as sin? In fact, how could we, being as He?
Assuming we as spirit went off-track, as in misalignment, show the man a roadmap. He gets back on track. That’s about it.
What’s with this sin and guilt thrust as a consciousness contracting belief, upon the earth entity, already struggling to shift from separateness to oneness via interconnectedness?

Seeker and Sky, if what goes on in the wild, in the organic and animal world went on in humanity, it would be called "sin".
And, actually it does.
Serial killers, psychopaths, sociopaths, though we choose to ignore it. (How's that for slow?)
"Paradise" meanwhile is a timeless situation wherein Adam and Eve were created.
Not now.
Not after the separate timeline was created after "the Fall"
Now you are the evolved animal and organic situation evolved into gods image...
Post Fall. Post "original sin".
This is why the devil is called the "god of this world".
Recognize the situation and repent.
The question related to "what is sin", is, "what is the sin of the world?"
