I would agree with Starman that there is a conscious spiritual path and an unconscious spiritual path.

Everything may be spiritual but there are certain qualities which are present on the denser planes of existence (such as hatred, greed, intolerance) which are not present on the finer planes of existence. So we tend to consider the qualities of these finer planes (such as love, compassion, forgiveness) as being spiritual qualities.

Every human being is on a spiritual journey, but for many this is an unconscious process while incarnate. They identify with personality and the physical body, and they may have no conscious spiritual goals or philosophy or practice. Nevertheless, their lives are a learning process.

While others do have a conscious drive for spiritual attainment, even though their philosophies and practices may be very different.

So everyone is spiritual although some manifest the higher qualities more than others.

Peace

That's a fun thing actually, thanks for writing that.
On the one hand, we should evolve spiritually to be awaken to this oneness, but on the other hand we should keep our self-awareness.
It seems to be one duality of consciousness.

When I say heart I mean deeper than our emotions. The level of intuition. Intuition is interior teaching, it literally
means inner tuition, and it does not come to us in logical syllogisms like thinking does. It comes to us as a
knowing often without evidence.

I believe that the middle path is best and we can benefit from both the path of the head and the path of the
heart, but lots of people are polarized in their head where reasoning and logic are God. We view life through the
lens of our thoughts and feelings.

The differentiated consciousness of an ego seeking status makes that call.

Was Jung saying we should listen to our mental turmoil?

A very good reason justifying why. But by default each person here is (born) self aware so we do not need to keep it unless we mean keep it on return. Are there individual spirits that are self aware, not only here but elsewhere?

So true and also realize all that is (was) unconscious though rises to the level to being conscious (being aware/self) and so is not hidden as could be implied as it is not unconscious in the end. It becomes a conscious experience and energy and therefore known.

It depends on how far you want to go, but yes. Mental turmoil will tell you about yourself and often it's unresolved issues, so it's finding the cause of those issues and being honest about the process.
