Where is heaven
Where is paradise
Where is Avalon?
Perfection, ever tantalising
places its yoke
upon our inadequate motives
and often feeble shoulders.
We are this,
We are that.
Why do battle with ourselves
as a house divided?
Perhaps paradise does not shout out for perfection
but whispers in our own
imperfect voice
So that even from our darkest places
comes forth the heartfelt and beautiful--
not as awaited magnificence
but as love and grace stumbling wide eyed
in their own sacred light.
