Skeletons in the cupboard...

Most people will have a skeleton or two in the cupboard - as the saying goes... This is about one of mine...


Skeletons in the Cupboard...

The cupboard door was open,
and there upon the shelf;
was this small structured skeleton:
sat muttering to itself.

Although surprised - I asked it,
“what troubles’ you my friend;
If I can help you in some way:
my ear - you’re free to bend”.

“I’m pleased it’s you” said Skelly,
“Tis you I need to ask;
if just by one confession:
you’ll free me from a task”.

“you see - I’ve held this secret,
for three score years - or more;
about some stolen apples:
that were - ‘picked’ - not off the floor.

I nodded - and suggested,
“twas me that nicked such fruit;
I only did it just one time:
I was a raw recruit”.

“That’s it”, replied friend Skelly,
“If only you’d confessed;
I wouldn’t have a problem:
in being laid to rest”.

I nodded in agreement,
and wandered off to see;
if mr bloggs - the farmer:
would have forgiven me.

I told him my full story,
He looked at me and grinned;
“be off you little rascal:
now you’ve confessed you’d sinned”.

I ran back to the cupboard,
this good news, so to share;
but when I opened up the door:
friend Skelly - wasn’t there.

Twas obvious at that point,
that I’d done what was best;
to let poor Skelly off the hook
and he’d been laid to rest.
