Just like i wrote...i just realized it...my ego is still pretty active, having its fits.

Ego wants to understand..still..

You wouldn´t know how many more reactions ´i´ wanted to give here on the forum...ego´reactions...

But also as of lately there are threads that i suddenly do not find the need to react to any longer.

I am still human, even though ego life is just an illusion..

But still...there´s really no use for this discussion..because in the end it really doesn´t matter what is being said. And you then could ask me again why then i am still giving my reaction here...yes, i could stop now...maybe will...for me, at the moment, it is still trying to understand things...which in fact isn´t really necessary, because i believe that one will get ´there´ (though already being there)

Ego/mind will always be active, just in different degrees.

I would say something like we can choose a path but any aspect of awakening is not due to any doing but to all the undoing. Kind of like polishing a grimey and dirt-encrusted mirror eventually allows the truth of the reflected image to be more directly perceived. It's not addition but subtraction. When enough is subtracted the truth reveals itself. Some might phrase it as 'by the grace of God' and that was always present but veiled or distorted by a dirty mirror.

Yes, it is much like letting go of what is unnecessary and untrue, which ultimately means letting go of everything.

I see it as the ego goes out into the world to a certain degree of selfishness. Through time and experience it turns back towards selflessness. It looks to help others and looks to find peace and truth. In doing that the ego becomes more spiritually focused. Interest is drawn to things such as a spirituality forum, to learn and share. The ego turns more to the true Oneness and Selflessness of being. The realisation that the ego reaches is that its separate identity was never real and there aren't any others. We never went anywhere. We never became anything. We are timelessly perfect. The world is not the reality we imagined it was. But there is no harm with the world playing on.

So do we need to do anything? No. Can we do anything? No. Does the ego/mind need to do anything? Yes, if it wants to find the ultimate answer.

The ego/mind loves to be spritual, and to learn about whom or what the ego/mind thinks it is.

I can't see how ego can be denied or that it's a bad thing and must, under certain circumstances, be avoided to develop spiritually. It's always there. Ones brain (hence, mind) is never asleep. Without an ego one would be unable to carry out any spiritual practice as there would be nothing to focus on the purpose of a practice aimed at spiritual development or refinement.

The three possible circumstances where ego can let go, to me, are the polar extremes: outright, full-on ecstasy (which is usually brief) or the moments of sleep when the mind is inactive prior to any dream activity (also brief); and death.

If we consider that we are a spiritual being and not the human form, then is ego necessary to be the spiritual being that we are? It is not the spiritual being that has a brain, sleeps or dies. The ego is not essential to who we are.

Ultimately I would say that our true nature does not need spiritual practice to be as we are. It seems from the ego's perspective that it needs to do spiritual practice to achieve peace and self realisation, but the highest practice imo is to let go of the sense 'I am this body'. It is then that self realisation and peace is revealed as our timeless nature.

I think spiritual practice is, at a fundamentally level, to undermine ego, and it is based on the ability to just be there, without reacting to anything, no matter what happens.

Yep. Thinking ego is bad, is being judgmental about ego and makes ego more active, This goes for thinking ego is good too. It is better to take a good hard look at your ego and to see it for what it is, then to deny or ignore egos existence.

Spiritual knowledge would be useless, without ego. And that should be telling you something, right there. Ego stores spiritual knowledge, beliefs, concepts etc in memory to use later
