I remember going to a phone booth with my father for the first time when I was about 4 years old, back in the eighties..
Dialing the number was quite an adventure at that age..

for the ham radio, I got the material to get a license but never pursued it.

When I was a kid, I would take a walkie talkie and connect it to the telephone line 'some how'. I was in New York and somehow would receive the Colorado State Police. I would try talking to them but I am not sure they could hear me. LOL!

As a kid: we were one time on a party line. Before you dialed the number, you would listen to see if anybody else was on the phone. If somebody else was on the phone, you could listen to what they were talking about. Great for gossip. LOL!

Before I graduated from high school, we were living in the rural. The day came when we had to travel about 35 miles to the nearest city for a road test for me so I could get a driver's license permit. As I was driving to the test site, I ran several red lights. I looked both ways to make sure nothing was coming before I went thru the intersection. I was a careful driver. The problem was: I had never really seen a red light in action.

As for driving: I started driving when I was 8 years old. Back then, kids could drive farm vehicles without a license. Sometimes I would drive on a 65 mile per hour road. What fun! LOL! The good old days.

Oh yeah BJ we were on a party line and loved to listen in as well. Good fun!

Haha....me too. We were not allowed to use the phone to ring anyone !!!
But sometimes we just picked it up to listen in !!!
