cigarettes

I quit my cocaine habit many years ago , without help (no rehab, no supportive friends/family), yet I am not able to quit smoking. I am surprised, I thought it would have been easy, I thought my mind was powerful

I think whatever the cocaine was suppressing, has now found another suppresser, cigarette's. If your choice of whatever suppresser, is to push back whatever you didn't want to deal with at whatever time of your life, then you need to find what you are pushing back and are not dealing with, and deal with it.

yes you must be feeble and weak like so many i am quite sure

if you really had power you would not accept one cigaret near you even

let alone mess with that low vibrational poison in your system your self

the weakness of having 'an other decide for you and rule you and waist your life

health money and way towards strength and love ' the power of tobacco

that rules over you thats why its there to hold people down in darkness

and destroy them selves in many ways

Thanks for the replies. I have profound respect and gratitude for your opinions. I always thought that seeing too much (and do psycology) into addictions isn't the correct approach. You like milk, pizza, and you like the drug or the cigarette. It doesn't necessarily hide a problematique childhood and similar.

(Newtons 2nd law of motion)
A force in motion stays in motion its physics not psychology.

Cigarette/nicotine addiction is the most difficult, insidious physical/psychological addiction on the planet. Much worse than heroin (i have never done heroin but I have read reputable articles stating so). Quitting cigarettes was THE MOST difficult thing I ever had to do in my life.

I would be much more panicked about learning of a minor taking up cigarettes over marijuana and would tell them that if they feel the urge to smoke, to take up marijuana over cigarettes, thats how bad cigarette addiction is.

I don't mean to discourage you here but felt compelled to state the facts for others who may think about taking up cigarette smoking.

Quitting isn't easy but it can be done. I recommend starting up a daily exercise program, meditation and staying focused. The first week is the toughest regarding the physical addiction and after the first month you are well over the hump and just need to be aware of and let go of the psychological urges. Good Luck!

Smudge yourself for starters..then do what SeaZen said w/follow up...

I also found in the still physically addicted stage that it was OK to let myself have something in place of that cig...like a cookie..lol...It really helped with getting past that 2 week physical part...still quit today and I never even think about them...

After smoking about 40 years, I found a fool-proof, simple way to give up. I developed acute angina and was told by a Cardiac surgeon that I needed a triple heart by-pass BUT he also said that he did not waste his time treating smokers. I saw my GP for a referral to a Smoking Cessation clinic who carried out a health check and referred me back to my GP for Nicotine Patches, and fixed up more appointments for the clinic. I started the patches and attended the clinic the following week where my Carbon Monoxide level was checked [breathing test]. In a single week of stopping smoking, my CO level had dropped to almost zero, the same as a non-smoker. Never smoked since, 15 years a non-smoker and a healthy heart !
So, that's the secret. The problem in giving up is Choice ! Take away the choice [the surgeon] and it takes away the indecision BUT it helps to enrol professional assistance, including the "no cheating" checks !

There is another "trick". Stop smoking but promise yourself that you will have a smoke "tomorrow". When tomorrow comes, don't smoke but make the same promise the following "tomorrow" and so it goes. You are now a non-smoker, promising to start again "tomorrow" and "tomorrow never comes. Yes, I know, it's a psychological trick.

I found a best guide in the form of a book 'STOP SMOKING NOW' by Allen Carr.
After reading it really changed my pschology and help me understand the process.I would highly recommend this book to anyone trying to quit this addiction
