Cloves in Everything Now!
Hello
I have a rare allergy that could be deadly in Cloves, it seems its landing in so much now even Chili Powder. Organic Chili Powder I have always go now has Cloves and Garlic in it. Never before! My Son noted it on the bottle as I got some that had basil Laand garlic in it.
Toothpaste for sensitive teeth, mouth wash, soaps, shampoos, the list goes on and on. While it is a great cure for a lot of things for me it is deadly.
I had toothpaste and if my husband had not kept waking me that night I might well have died. He said I was not breathing right. Never dawned on me til the next day when feet and hand were very swollen that I had an allergic reaction.
I had to call the company to find out what was in it as a non medical ingredient does not have to be listed, its down as "Flavoring" on the label.
I have a co worker that Lavender is her issue and that too is in everything now.
Lynn

This sounds like anaphylaxis Lynn. Do you have an epi pen? Products always say "may contain traces of (whatever the allergen is)" to cover themselves these days so you're always taking a chance and have to be vigilant.
I've yet to be notified for an appointment to see the allergist for my allergies. Hopefully soon.

Allergies and being chemically sensitive are two area in which it seems some people are not sensitive to when it pertains to those who are.
Something some people might want to take note.
When food is processed, the machinery that is used sometimes, is not properly cleaned.
Years ago, a Chinese plant processed some children's candy on a machine that had not been properly cleaned. What was processed before the candy was Viagra.

Anaphylaxis....
I would suggest that those who have Allergic reactions wear a SOS ALERT bracelet on which you can record your Allergies incase of an emergency, it MAY save your life.
I've been admitted to Hospital four times with Anaphylaxis in the past few years, on one occasion my Heart stopped, luckily I was actually in the Hospital and treated immediately otherwise I might have lost my life.
SOS ALERT BRACELET, very important....
Btw, I do not intend to frighten anyone nor am I giving medical advice.... I'm just sharing my experiences...

In the past, I was tested for allergies and chemical sensitivities. I went to a medical doctor that was an environmental specialists. She tested me. One thing I was sensitive was one of the ingredients in allergy shots. Because of that, I had to get special shots. I began the shots by getting 2 shots twice a week (4 shots per week) and this went on for several years. Then I changed insurances (force to because of a different employer) and had to be tested all over again. My records said I was extremely sensitive to epinephrine. I told them "No!" They basically said "Yes!" Sure enough, I reacted almost immediately after the person who injected me left the room.
To shorten the story, I sued that insurance. When the trial was suppose to begin, there was me, their lawyer, an administrator from the insurance company and several doctors. Shortly after the trial began, the other side wanted to settle which I did not object.
As for me, I went back getting the shots I was getting and shortly afterwards, no longer needed them.

Epinephrine-Adrenaline is not given in Allergy shots, it is a Hormone that is naturally produced by your adrenal glands and only used as a medication for 'life threatening' allergic reactions/cardiac arrest.
Why did they give you Epinephrine anyway and leave the room while you were in Anaphylactic Shock ?

Gee ........ I know that.
Back then, to give me that could have cost me my life. I am glad the Doctor tested me for that. She claimed that problem was prevalent with many of her patients. But then, her patients were people that regular medical care could not help.

Epinephrine sensitivities but NOT ALLERGY...
Epinephrine is a hormone that is naturally produced by the body, and essential to life. In most cases, a true allergy to epinephrine doesn't exist. The component of our immune system that causes respiratory-system swelling is tuned to react to FOREIGN allergens. Because epinephrine is NATURALLY present in your body, a minor, additional injected amount of epinephrine is unlikely to cause allergic reaction.
That is not to say that people haven't experienced side effects due to epinephrine etc, etc.....
