Why do we forget so easily?

Why do we forget so easily?

I should be happy and grateful because I can see the beauties God created for us, and I have healthy food to eat, etc. But I forget this very easily and feel bored and unhappy and focus on the problems instead sometimes.

I wonder why. Were we designed to forget easily? Or is there a reason related to the paranormal? I mean is this problem caused by other entities telepathically?

Why do we forget to be happy and grateful so easily?

In hypnotic trance, bewildered by illusions, our fickle attention is blown away like a leaf in the squall. Butterfly net in hand, we flit from desire to desire in the fleeting world of transience. Such is the case for most of us.

The mind cannot be made tranquil by force. However, if we choose to internalise attention, head then melds with the heart, aligned with the love vibrations. In time, oscillations slow down and we become equanimous, peaceful, tranquil.

As such, this is a consciousness shift, brought about by prioritising God search. All is within, of course but we look for happiness everywhere except in our heart.

It's easy to forget the good, not because one necessarily wants more, but puts on a condition to it, witch can be anything really. Owning that particular car, having your day going the way you want, relationships with others going the way you envision it... But if you set your intention on truly being happy, you will truly be happy, independantly from what you have/happens to you. You'll just see the good in everything!

Beautiful prose.......

I agree fully except I believe it is true for all of us.

We forget either because we weren't concentrating enough to store whatever it is/was and that could be because it isn't/wasn't relevant at the time as other things. Repeat things and brain plasticity starts to take over and reinforce memory and lead to a growing range of possible actions.

As I've been told, every moment of every day that reaches your perception could be of spiritual importance to you but it's up to you how you evaluate and assimilate it.

We don't forget actually, or much less than what we think.
A long time ago I had learnt that in order to retrieve a piece of information (like a lesson), we need to be in the same state of mind as when we learned it.

Whenever we go somewhere or do something, our body unconsciously integrates plenty of information, but we can only access a tiny portion of it.

Being happy and grateful corresponds to a higher state of mind. Whenever we go to a lower vibration, we forget all these happy memories. But if we go back to a higher state, these memories come back. It's also working the other way: whenever we're high, we forget about the bad (and that's great!). Some refer it as switching frequency, or channel.

Except in very specific states of mind, we can't access all our memories, it would be too much information, so we need to focus. That focus makes us see things but forget others (sometimes to the point of forgetting that there are other channels!).
I think when we're high, we can see below, while when we're low, it's really much harder to see above, it's like a pyramid, or a hierarchy. Or rather, when we're high, we don't want to see below, but when we're low, we can't see above.
When people experience transcendental states, they can have the feeling to "know" everything, and I think it's because they can recover information across all their different states of mind at the same time.

I think practicing meditation (watching the thoughts) teaches to expand that consciousness and zoom out on larger bandwidths. It raises consciousness to a higher point of view.

Just to add one thing.
Another answer to the topic could be: because you're tired.

If you have the energy to keep yourself high, you won't have any problem remembering anything. But if you're tired, you stay in the low vibrations, and your thoughts would constantly be switching from one low frequency to another, and thus forgetting your previous thoughts or actions.

Sleep is essential for memory (and energy)

Green1,
Forgetting, of course, can be a gift. Rather than re-litigating the past it can be beneficial to forgive and forget. It provides the opportunity to move forward and not be hindered by memories of past traumas. Some might read this as saying that we forget so that we can be happy. I have a cousin that was the victim of a hit and run accident at the age of 6…he survived after a very lengthy hospitalization. He had absolutely no memory of that accident until he was 60+….protection can come in many forms.

we WANT happiness the same way we WANT money, but all things considered it may not be the 'natural state' for humans who haven't built a world that is so far apart from nature... there are many many things we do that are 'wrong' in terms of a 'natural state'.

anyway if you want a reason god said he made the foolish things to confound the wise. So maybe since most people find it 'wise' to be happy that says something about the state of things.

To get to the answer why we forget so easily, you have to see the other side.

The side which is overlook. The side which is forgotten in adulthood.

When you were a child, you had to learn, many hours, many days, many weeks - months - years to walk, talk and do things.

Why do we forget so easily ? Its because of lack of repetition.

We all learn by repeating. The often you did something, the easier and the longer to remember.

Then there is learning with emotions.
The stronger the emotions, the longer you may remember it.

(p.s. i have one more explanation from the spiritual perspective, but it is not easy to put in logical order)
