Generations Ago

hello everyone.
I am posting this here, because I am unsure where else to post it.
I have been thinking about doing my family tree, but for some reason I am being pulled to want to do my mothers side of the family. Something keeps telling me that the wiccan ways started with my mothers family back in Poland. And what is interesting is that several cousins on my side of this family, also are in wicca and astrology.
Any thoughts on if wicca is passed on in such a way.

You can be born into a family that practices Wicca. My daughters are second generation Wiccans. It's the same as being born into a Christian family - if the parents are Christian usually the children become Christians. It doesn't mean to say it's passed down through the blood - it's simply that children often assume their parents religion.

My family had become Catholics, but I still have a strong sense of something else and feel it strongest when I practice Wicca. I am wondering if like many back then they joined the church only to avoid persecution .I have a lot of reading to do!
