Oh, how I love the Gita
I think I will start a thread on some verses to inspire people.
There was a fabulous one years ago...he would place 3 different translations and we would discuss...alas, he is not around anymore.
I will follow the 2 sentence rule here.
If anyone wants to place a different translation...please do...or to discuss
anything...no problem...
Ch 8 v10: a translation by a devotee of Sri Yukteswar
He who practices with a calm mind, devotion and the power of
yoga (meditation) and directs his life force in the center of
the eyebrows, at the time of departure will attain this supreme, divine
indwelling self.

Ch8v7 to Arjuna:
Remember Me at all times and fight.
when your mind and understanding are directed toward Me,
you will come to Me, there is no doubt.

I'm reading a commentary of the Gita and am on chapter 6. This verse brings me back to something stated about Arjuna facing his loved ones and doubting his duty. It pointed out something I never considered and that was that his loved ones were lined up to kill him!

On attaining the self, all action is towards the lord and is without judgement or differentiation. There is no desire of the outcome.
Such action less action leads not to rebirth.

What I read was to concentrate on the tip of the nose and the commentary said it means to see it with fixed eyes but without actually looking at it. I tried that and it helpful.

With the help of the Gita and recent life experiences, I see clearly the need for moderation. I see that with what force you apply, be it good or bad, and equal and opposite force will meet you. It's a very zen like understanding.
Moderation is key.

He who perceives Me everywhere and beholds everything in Me never loses sight of Me, nor do I ever lose sight of him. — The Bhagavad Gita VI:30

Beautiful book, but I've never read it.
In my sampradaya, we study the teachings of our sampradaya exclusively. One of the true signs of meeting your Guru is the thought, "Wow, I'm done searching. This is all I need."
Once my Guru was at Palani Hills Murugan temple when an elderly man came up and showed Him a pamphlet, declaring to the stranger from the west, "Look at this booklet, it is all I'll ever need." The man didn't recognise that the person he was telling his story to was the author of the pamphlet he was so keen on.
