PTSD can cause insomnia, and also head cramps .. but so can fibro and CFS, vitamin D and magnesium deficiency .. have either of you looked into these conditions? it maybe worthwhile and if they resonate, see a doctor.

However on a by note - over thinking, over analyzing, stress can also cause symptoms such as these. Try relaxation techniques such as diagraphmatic breathing, yoga, pilates, a hot bath, listening to mood music, drinking lemon balm tea, or as a capsule can also help.

Smiler..

Do you use anything to sweeten your coffee? If you use Nutrisweet aka aspartame, it is known to cause migraines.

Hi Scibat, have you ever tried melatonin? I have also had a problem for years with staying asleep. Fall asleep EXHAUSTED and then like clockwork, wake up at 3:00 and then finally drift off again at about 7:00, just in time to get up! I also took sleeping pills every few nights just to try and catch up (which you never seem to do right?). Anyway, I just recently started taking melatonin every night at bedtime, and it's been like a miracle for me. Sleep like a baby, interesting dreams (I never used to dream, probably because I didn't sleep deeply enough), and I wake up refreshed! It is so fabulous.

If you haven't tried it yet, you can get it at any drugstore and usually near the over the counter sleep aids like benadryl and such. What I like about this is that it is a 'natural' product not just a pharmacuetical. Good luck.
