I posted in the prayer section, but I know not everyone goes in there so I thought I would post here too .

I am asking if we could all spare a thought and maybe a prayer for John and his family who are having to deal with the most terrible situation you can imagine .
Their son ( John's step -son) has just been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer .
Naturally the family are all still in shock .
At the moment it would appear the prognosis is not great but it's still very early days and a lot of doctors to speak to .

Sending Love and best wishes John to you all, and of course my prayers .

When John opened this thread I guess he never imagined that he would still be here now but desperately sad about the illness of his son.

Took them to the airport this morning. They checked in at 3:00 AM. Was told we had to pay for extra suitcases in 2 payments. First payment was $1500.00 and second payment was $1300.00. They also made a point that if there is a problem, there is no refund. They looked at their passports and asked what passports they were flying on. They said USA. They claimed they needed VISAS! reason was: they were leaving the USA on the 8th and start their return on the August 9th which is over 30 days. But when they arrive at their destination which is on the 9th, USA time at about 6:00 AM ...... is 8:00 PM their destination time. Which means: they didn't need visas which meant they could fly. When this issue came up, they mentioned they do not use their USA passport on entering their destination country. What they use is passports from that country they were going to. That seemed okay till they notice the first name on my daughter's passport were not the same. Finally the employees at the airport said they could fly on the USA passports.

Now people know why I have a whiskey deficiency. LOL!

Moving house is bad enough , but moving thousands and thousands of miles away ...

I thought that plan had been shelved given you have sold some of your assets and you are getting there with the rest.

Plan was for them to come back in August. Being things have changed, it looks like it will be a one way flight.

As for me, I hope I can get my eye operations on my retinas next month.

Would be such a faff if they had to come back at this stage.

As for me, looks like I will have to buy a round trip ticket even though it will be a one way trip. In order to fly on a one way ticket, I need an immigration visa. The consulate is near Los Angeles. Trying to get that when I am not sure when I am going, is hard to get. They recommend getting it there.

Besides, doing this now, being the way my eyes are, would be difficult for me to do.
