Left Behind Series

I read the first book in this series (well, almost the whole book, I didn't make it to the end by the library due date, but I certainly might take it out again). The entire philosophy behind the books makes no sense to me, so I read it for intellectual interest, not to confirm my belief in a "rapture" etc. But by the end (or near end, lol), I found myself really liking the characters. They were very good people. The anti-Christ was laughable, but the good characters were pretty decent people, and their faith obviously was a huge factor in their goodness. (Something which surprised me, since I expected that the characters would be more of the "na-na-na-na-boo-boo I'll be saved while you burn" sort.)

Anyone else have any thoughts on this series? Philosophically, I disagree with the main thesis, and with most of the smaller points made. But it was a very interesting book to read, and gave me a lot to think about.
