Eli, Eli, Lema Sabachthani

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Matthew 27:46

I wonder why Jesus felt He had been forsaken.
(In the Bible to forsake means to abandon, to desert, to renounce, or to turn away from entirely.)

Could He have been referring to Psalm 22:1 ...

This will be rejected by many - but I will still tell you all about it.
In the transmissions or messages
from the Other Side that James E Padgett received - John came thru many times.
Paraphrased, he said - Not only would Jesus never have said that ...the crowd was held so far back ...No one would
have been able to hear him say that.
In other words, it is made up..as are some other things....which Jesus clarifies himself...some little things...some bigger;
certainly misunderstandings of what he meant .

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

Pretty good explanation here: https://www.chaimbentorah.com/2021/0...a-sabachthani/

Basically seems like somebody copied psalms according to the article above.

That's kind of what that article said. " the Eastern Church which teaches that the scribes who wrote this out in Greek really did not understand what the phrase really meant" Mentions a lot of translation problems.

Google translate sure gives a different translation of that Arabic into English.

An interesting to me side note is some feel God is in control of everything. So then God would be fine with things added and mistranslations. But then zooming out to a bigger picture, God has even allowed many on this earth to have never heard of him, Jesus, or Christianity and of course allows many different Gods and religions to exist and to be believed in. So if God is all powerful, and can do anything, seems like God feels one can find him outside of a religion. Otherwise seems to me God would make sure all on earth have heard of Jesus.

Google question: How many on earth have never heard of Jesus?

"Estimates say that over a billion people in the world today have little to no knowledge of Jesus, little to no knowledge of the gospel, and little to no chance of hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ before they die."

That's about 1 in every 8 people.

But then in Luke 5:32 Jesus says: "I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” So maybe 1 billion are the "righteous."

This is a transliteration: not to be confused with a translation. To complicate matters, this quoted expression is not always transliterated this way.

The two Gospel writers who wrote 'this', were not present at Jesus' execution. As for the information, if the aforementioned quote is accurate, it probably was provided by one or more of the few people who were present.

Tradition has it that Jesus was executed at Golgotha but exactly where that was located is muchly questioned, even today. But then, tradition also seems to support that Golgotha could not hold many people but that does not seem to be material in this case because it seems that almost nobody was present.

As for Jesus quoting the introduction to Psalm 22, he probably was showing that particular Psalm was being fulfilled as he was dying.

As I had mentioned previously Psalm 22:1 and after doing a bit more research I personally believe Jesus quoted Psalm 22:1 which begins with, “ My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me” in order to draw attention/point out that He was fulfilling the Prophecy there at that moment on the cross.

Probably one of the most painful ways to die that exist.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned Abraham and Isaac of Genesis 22……Abraham was given a ram to sacrifice instead of Isaac…….Jesus was the Lamb of God……for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son….
