Haha.... So funny everyone.
To address my own memories, age 17 I was in a long hospital ward for 3 weeks and my mother used to bring me 20 Benson and hedges every other day.
The nurses would bring an ah tray and every now n then they would come and empty it. And that was sat in your hospital bed !!!
The best bit was the doctors doing the rounds with a fag hanging out of their mouths LOL..
Can you image ""hello Mr Smith, I'm afraid your lungs are beyond repair , you only have 6 months to live..... Do you want a cig ?..."""

As for TV, yep, was only 3 channels ( black n white) but we didn't count Bbc2 as it was only open university or something .
It closed after the 10 o'clock news I think until the next day just showing the test card.

Rca and Zenith were 2 major brands of US t.v.s . TVs used vacuum tubes until the early 70s when they were replaced with transistors and ics . Early tvs had lots of tubes later ones had fewer tubes . I can comment more if asked on vacuum tubes . Some call them valves .

Did you ever put a magnet on the screen?Does something to the colours,think it still effects modern TV screens.

I remember a magnet would do something to the colors. I don't think it would have any effect on a modern TV.

I remember one TV we had: it didn't work. A repair person came and replaced at least one tube. I didn't get to see much of what was involved in replacing a vacuum tube. I was only 5 or 6 years old at the time.
We later moved and replaced the TV with a Zenith. I have no idea what happened to the older TV or what make it was.

Redchic-they started selling single eggs in Morrisons a few year back,they gone up quick though as they now 25p I think,would have thought they would have coupled the idea with bread by the slice,too many in a loaf for me and small loaves are not worth it in comparrison,usually make my own or buy pittas at 6 for 50p.

I remember walking to a local drug store now and then and buying a lot of candy for $1. Most candy cost about 5 cents a piece.
