Just curious what exactly does an eclipse do??
I know it can cause things to happen but what exactly??

There is a lunar eclipse on 19 November and a solar eclipse on 4 December.
There is an interesting article in Cosmopolitan on this which is too long for me to quote. Cosmopolitan may not be an obvious source for astrological information but it has the advantage of being written in fairly straightforward language.

What kind of things are you asking about? High tides kind of things or emotional/mental?
If the latter... there's a difference between lunar & solar eclipses. Then it matters whether it's partial or full as full will have bigger impact.
And this particular partial lunar eclipse is about this:
This lunar eclipse can stir up emotions or make you wonder where you (still) feel safe. You want to be close to loved ones, loyal to one another and find safety & security together. Say that to each other, build a circle of people you trust and trust you, be there for one another.
The eclipse asks a reset of emotions.

It causes energy shifts and there'll be an abundance of energy for us to tap right into on the day/night.
