A still mind is divine...

Insightful article by spiritual teacher Eknath Easwaran on the still mind as perceived from the Hindu and Christian religious philosophies...

Quote:
There is a popular misconception that to still the mind is to become a zombie or robot. It is just the opposite. The calmer and stiller the mind becomes, the more we can realise in our daily lives our true birthright of security, joy and tireless energy to work for the welfare of those around us. Meher Baba, a well-known saint of modern India, used to say that a mind that is fast is sick, a mind that is slow is sound, and a mind that is still is divine. This is what the Bible means when it says, 'Be still and know that I am God.' ~ Eknath Easwaran

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones...Meditate unceasingly, that you may
quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery.

The more the mind stills, the more the (inner) divine shines through.

This is so true when the Mind is still you can be at one with Nature.

When the mind is in constant turmoil and worry it is very hard to have love. That is the mind in metaphoric Hell.

The more love we have the more we will be peaceful, joyful, and grateful; and so naturally the less we will get our buttons pressed easily. A mind that complains less, blames less, and plays the powerless victim card less is a mind in metaphoric Heaven.

So yes, the more love we have the stronger is our connection and entanglement with divinity, God, Creative Source, and many other names referring to the same.

It has always been about love, but we have free will to choose it or not.

Love that is much more than just simply a beautiful human emotion.

Love is an advance energy with advance physics behind it.

What kind of bugs me about all the "still mind" stuff is that it implies all maladies stem from noise. It is like noise is the cause of all suffering! I deeply wonder about that. Is noise really that harmful?

Stillness can be practiced anywhere, it is a state of mind, a peaceful state of clarity which is best achieved in a physically quiet place but even this can be overcome when present in the heart. Noise versus stillness are two different things.

But then you have things like music, or relationship, which is a kind of noise or activity which is very harmonious and benevolent.
