as far as i can tell it is a girl thing... sometimes a girl just wants to consume more and more and more until she is satiated... thing is in reality that has an ending. The girl eventually can go on to a take it or leave it attitude with regards to it.

As oppose to society which says you should keep taking...

What happens when society reveres such things is everyone who is most sick programs their computer-brains with finding ways to be doing them, as well as with ideas how to avoid not doing them.

And in this case, with society rewarding those who get more at the expense of those who have less... well noone wants to be on the 'losing' side so the consequence is you have more people fighting over less resources. But I guess some people like fighting so it as usual everything is readily balanced if you look beyond the immediate desires people always seem to have for the way they think things are/should be.

well that is what i think anyway

The accumulation of wealth far beyond physical need has long been considered a measure of social status and success in many societies.

A question is---can such societies successfully regulate the means and methods used in such striving?

And if they cannot regulate, or are governed by those who will not regulate---either society or themselves--what are the likely and logical consequences?

Does an examination of history help in providing some evidence of possible/probable outcome in such circumstances?

Cheers. X.
