What would you have wanted someone to say to ease the stress of feeling so much?

Are there books for young people?

Are there chat groups for young empaths?

I am most likely too close to this to really help in an affective way. He and I are cut from the same cloth.

I should explain he wears several labels, autism, genetically unique, ptsd, nde, medically fragile and a few that are only his to share. The labels vaguely provide a frame of reference, but do not define who he is.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

One of the most important understandings for an empath is to learn how to self care. We can’t can’t change others but we have to learn how to be in the world without constant drain or mental anguish.

So the lesson for most empaths is balance and grounding. Self care and renewal. Both these things require an awareness of ones needs before things go out of control.

He would be wise to look at his normal schedule of life happenings, become aware of how much time is spent around ‘others’ ‘situations’ that affect him. When someone suffers overwhelm, it can weave itself into other problems, namely anxiety, depression and suppression of emotions. Once this happens the way out is harder.

It’s imperative to ‘fill’ up his source within away from others. How he chooses this is really what he enjoys and feels ‘energises’ him, renews him.

You can’t truly beat ‘turning’ off everything completely, which means meditation, being in nature, walking bare feet on the earth and recharging through natural means can support this.

Quiet space, no noise or doing. Switch it all off.

This not only helps to let go of ‘stuff’ but supports reconnecting with himself.

The empaths journey is not easy. It’s often a long process and practice to build balance. Triggers will be abound in the world. Boundaries often come up too.

Until he builds the balance as himself, it’s up to him to self care and build a daily practice to support himself. One thing I’ve learned, is even too much of good things can tip my scale. Too much socialising, too much of others, too much technology, doing what I love. All this if not kept in check tips the scales of balance.

If he’s in anxiety stage I’d suggest dealing with this first to support an ongoing practice of balanced living. This might require some external support. If he’s anxious now, it will just get worse.
