Wow, minus 27 F. That's crazy cold. I've been living in Texas for the time being. It went from pleasant to unpleasant pretty rapidly. Should go back to pleasant soon. I'm currently at a hotel because my place has no heat or water. People are going to extreme measures just to stay warm and get water. All this over a small snow storm and below normal temps. I get the state isn't use to this but this is really pathetic. A small snow storm gets turned into a huge catastrophic event putting lives in danger and causing so much unnecessary suffering. People going into the river just to get water. Some dying or nearly dying from carbon monoxide poisoning from trying to stay warm in their cars or using other dangerous means.
If you can send some tolerance our way. Show this state how to handle winter climate.

here's something interesting for you. https://madison.com/wsj/news/local/e...69d9ba215.html. How is that cold going to affect plants and wildlife?

Well, not here in the UK it won't!
For months now the Jet Stream has been positioned right across the UK, bringing our nation low pressure systems almost continuously, apart from a recent cold snap from the east which temporarily caused a stall.
I shall be interested to hear from the Met Office in the spring, the statistics regarding the winter's rainfall figures, but 2020/21 must be one of our wettest in years. Lots and lots of flood warnings out....
The forecast is for another wet and windy day today; there seems hardly a break in the rain forecast long enough to allow me my 4 mile dog walk. Oh joy.

Nice here too. Back to temps in the upper 70s. How winter should be. Back to wearing shorts.

We are back to the 40s in the day time, clear blue sky,... tonight, clouds moving fast past the moon and maybe snow. I can hardly wait to see what the morning brings!
