I've been working on my new painting for a number of sessions now and feel like sharing how far I've gotten :)
It is obviously not done yet.

Even though I'm feeling a bit under the weather I've painted a bit.
I corrected the hairline, worked on the background (that needs another layer here and there) and started with the dragon.
The latter is a bit of trial and error to see what works and what doesn't and how to get the effect I'm after.
What remains for the girl is some fine detail and the tiara. Although I'm not sure anymore whether I want that or not.

Really beautiful .
Reminds me of me ( same hair and shaped face when I was healthy ).
She is a lot prettier than I was though .
But it also reminds me of the love I had for my two tortoises who are scaly creatures.
Again, another stunning piece of art .

Beautiful face FairyC.
You mentioned the hairline. What I do is after I’ve put the edge of the hair in the right place where I want it, I usually rub my finger along the edge (where it meets the skin tone) and this usually gives it a really soft edge. It took me awhile to learn that.
Not saying there is anything wrong with yours though. Just a tip I thought you might want try out later.
Obviously you can only do this with oils and it’s not as affective with acrylics. I’m not sure what medium you are working with.
The texture on the dragon is looking really good.

Thanks for the tip!
Not sure if it'd work with acrylics, which I'm using. Oils (turp variety) used to be so much easier with many things.
I haven't used those in years, switched to water soluble oils around 2010 to not have those toxic fumes in the house anymore.
The water soluble was harder to work with, I found out I depended a lot on blending on the canvas, had to almost learn to paint again, hihi.
It's still easier to do soft gradient colours with that than it is with acrylics though.
I am so happy I managed to get that sorted with the hair on the back of her head! Was a lot of work but I got that soft look done that I was after :)
Around the face needs more work. I'd planned to focus on that when I've decided whether or not I'm doing the tiara.
I'm still in two minds about it.
I will try to smudge the hairline there when I know what I'm going to do.
There are so many colours in her hair! Lemon yellow, burnt sienna, burnt umber, blue, neon pink, yellow ochre, titanium white.
I've never used that many colours to do hair, hihi. But I've never painted blond hair before.

Thank you so much, Uma! It'd be great to have that happen!
I'll have to finish it first of course, hihi. It's still a work in progress.
