do you feel things when around old objects

I love going into consignment shops and seeing and smelling the past.
However, sometimes I get really bad stomach aches when surrounded by some things that I have to leave.

I've always been fascinated by that. I love the past... colonial era is one of my favorites. I also have identified with the prairie times - think little house in the big woods/little house on the prairie time.

I love the look of old money - I remember as a kid we went to the Museum of the City of New York, and I purchased the old money souvenirs. I actually went on line to see if I could find them again because it brought me some type of weird comfort or security or something... I guess it reminded me of a different time in one of my old lives.

Everything we connect to offers us an aspect of our own connection in some way.

How you connect is unique to you of course.

I love second hand shops pouring over old stuff, some things really intrigue me and awaken in me a deeper relationship, not always knowing they why..It is fun all the same.

I feel an immense energy around people. When around objects it is very slight. Around living objects it is somewhere between slight and immense.

That is neat that you have a connection to certain periods :) Sounds like you have strong connections to that part of your past, like it had some significance!

I don't feel it the same, but when I touch certain objects (nothing specific), I can feel where it came from. Can't see it yet, wish I knew how to hone that gift, but I can feel it's past...it's pretty neat.

As a kid, I made frequent visits to museum spots and historical landmarks in Florida and I always admired the crafty artwork of Native American cultures.

Chopper, I've always felt a connection with the Native Americans as well.

If I picked the single event from my memories that I remember as experienced right now of the past, it would be smell associated as well. The atmosphere in that space clearly unique and pronounced it stands out even right now. For me, it is #1.

Think it's a physical process to of cause and effect. I know thoughts in the form of memories seem to flood my mind triggered by (non average) aroma. I'm aware of the feeling, especially if it is powerful and positive that it is an attachment I like, except for places like hospitals and old houses.

Love the fragrance of roses out in nature that catch me by surprise by the aroma that I always stop. Being in the city you don't get that. I think the place is important then. IOW you become aware of a stimulus this one is awareness of. Notice how different awareness feels and how others times you don't pay attention to it. I also see it tied to instinct in physical ways. For instance, I don't like the smell of old houses because of the thick odor, could be something like decay innately recognized instinct I react to. Now this is what I think I feel as the experience always comes to mind now.

The body is connected to the mind and the thought the body receives the signal sent and the body expressing the thought in symptoms. The body expresses the mind. Each agreeing. The body saying is this what you mean and the mind says, yes. They coordinate and work together seamlessly. Like it say's move on, like the thought telling the body to move the arm to get that delicious sandwich....haha.

Not so much objects...although I can walk past certain places or houses and pick up on bad things. It will get so oppressive that I have to hurry past...I've lingered to figure out what I was feeling before and sheer terror took over. I didn't want to experience it again. Certain smells, particularly flowers will shoot me back somewhere and I will see for example a cottage with flowers around. Hollyhocks I gravitate to readily and I feel as though I'm back in another life. Certain music does that for me as well. A note perhaps and I'm back in another time, another age. When I am out walking, certain types of wooded areas or paths/trails I instantly go back to another place. I see my feet and I feel like I remember walking as a child down a similar path..

There are some cities I just do not even want to pass through let alone live in them. That oppression comes on so strong. Oddly enough one particular city I absolutely hated has a 'clean' feeling to it now, but I don't know why. For decades I would get nauseated to drive through it.

I have a 'thing' about old books, the shabbier the better. I love feeling and smelling the covers and pages.

If the pages have annotations, the front cover has a name written in all the better. There is a lovely energy about them.

I found a book that had been a gift to someone and the hand written letter from the gifter was still in the front of the book, dated 1918. It has the most amazing 'loved' vibe.

My bible belonged to Mary Scott in 1864. I see her in my head, going to chapel on Sunday, bible held in her white gloved hands, nicely dressed, but there is a sadness about her, like a lost love. It may just be my imagination romanticising but my image of her never changes

My occupation is in the antique world. Ive had a fascination with them since a child.

There are some objects Im very very drawn to.

When we do estate sales I love it because I can spend more time around the items.
Its not like they talk to me, but I feel some sort of kinship with specific items.

A lot of the items I have in my home Ive kept because of this certain "kinship"
