Okay. For example, "New Posts" -> "Previous Visit" links to:
http://www.spiritualforums.com/vb/search.php?do=getnew
Now this gets redirected to something like:
http://www.spiritualforums.com/vb/search.php?searchid=1837543
The browser remembers this redirection and when next time the 1st URL is clicked (do=getnew) the browser automatically redirects to the 2nd URL (searchid=1837543) without asking Spiritual Forums website. The 2nd URL may get expired but the browser doesn't know. SF may be offering a new URL with a fresh "searchid" but the browser doesn't ask SF because it has remembered (CACHED) the previous redirection and is sticking to it. That's why need to clear the cache so that the browser forgets the previous redirection and make it listen to SF when SF is offering a new redirection.

With a tiny change in SF's script, SF can tell the browser that the redirection isn't permanent, and not to cache the redirection.

For the workaround, you guys are using mouse but using shortcut keys is faster. In my Firefox on Linux, i press the following keys: Alt+s -> c -> Enter. Or another way: Ctrl+Shift+Delete -> Enter. But for this i've set time range to clear to be the shortest: last hour and to clear only cache:

I hope members find the workarounds do the biz for them but what a shame a workaround is necessary. I don't experience any problems elsewhere.

What I also find is that clicking a link to reach an updated thread I often end up on a random page rather than the last posting. For example I might see a new posting notification when scanning the forum lists, click on it and get taken to -say - page 3 of a 5 page thread. From there I then have to navigate to the most recent posting.

Having to do that I find more a pain than needing to scan for new postings in the first place! But like many inconveniences I've learned to live with 'em and others may never see these glitches if they don't visit as often as I do.

Perhaps I should just stay away longer and visit less!

You have to take a look at each icon, button, word or whatever in your own browser to locate the right setting to clear recent history, cached data etc.

I don't see the book on the shelf. I use Duck Go Go.

Browser windows can be set up to display what you wish on their toolbars so I guess yours isn't showing a Library icon whose drop-down menu offers"View history, saved bookmarks and more"

The search engine used (Duck Duck Go) doesn't change the way you can use 'Customize Toolbar' found by clicking/tapping the three horizontal lines top right which shows 'Open Application Menu' if you hover over the icon.

Take a look at all the menu options and you'll find History.

Sean1,
Do you know which browser and operating system are you using? Also which device (laptop/desktop, phone, tablet)?
In your browser, does pressing these 3 keys together: Ctrl Shift Delete, bring up option to clear your recent history?

There is a weird post under articles, but I don't want to click on it to report. Could a Mod look at it?
