Our Ground of Being

Our ground of being is awake and alive
A beautiful thing in a world that often
Strives for what it deep down knows
Cannot keep it satisfied
That is all very well
But seeks to bring our perfection
To a halt, to sully it, to assault,
To trap and dispute
The perfection of being that
Is the root of everything
Small big good and long
Abbreviated truncated, smashed
Torn blown apart
Funny ridiculous, hilarious
And smiles, Ancient, grouchy,
Fascist or beguiled, all these things
Come and go in the ground of our
Being ….The perfection we claim
To be too simple, the perfection we
Claim not to know.

Huh, that's cool.

I read this poem of yours couple of days ago... I like the last line, among others, which really stuck out.

"We claim not to know".
I've been thinking alot about the pursuit of perfection this week. I have heard some people mention the "Cult of Perfection". Perfection has almost become a religion, I feel.

I've been thinking about my relationship to confrontation and how much guilt and shame around conflict I feel.
When in reality, you hit the nail on the head with your poem and particularly the last line, the soul always knows

This brought up the line in the song 'Memories', big song,
made famous by people like Barbara Streisand. Anyway my
father was singing it not so long ago ..and he made sure to
emphasis the words We simply choose to forget ...Of course
this is always related back to our survival instincts and biological reality
but I'm not going there and I'm staying here on the mystical side. lol

I wrote a little verse yesterday before I saw your post, it was regarding solar
eclipses, I have seen, or tried to see. Actually I made my way up to a pine
forest awhile back as I heard there was going to be a solar eclipse. Anyway
I'm standing there, slightly off a trail, marveling and gazing into the sky and
a jogger comes by, he actually stopped and kind of looked at me and then
looked up into the sky and back at me, and said something like, "yeah that's it" or something and jogged off !!! lololol ***..i mean he hadn't a clue !

The perfection thing I have been looking at for a little while. So there seems to be many interpretations of the term Perfect
and as many deployments of the term and meaning. So if is used at all and often it is not because people seem terrified as well
of the word, I try to step back and see what's going on. I use the term firstly to describe a near death experience I had, where I
experienced, a love, knowing and perfection that I have never forgotten.
But I have to say it did seem OBE, out of body, and quite hard to square up at times with the so called goings on of myself and others in the world ? The
striving for perfection ? But perhaps that is the journey of such an experience. Hey thank you very much for reading my poem and commenting and hope you don't mind me
throwing down this verse i wrote yesterday. Kindest Regards Joe.

In the blue light
I walked on the pine trail
To see in the sky
The golden sovereign
eaten by the dragon
Moon
The Dimming went on
Till the birds stopped
Their flight and song
The mechanism before me
Was not Enzo Ferrari's
Nor even that of
A genius discovery
But the engine of the divine
Lined up in exact cylindrical
Harmony, splined beyond the
Human mind
It was there for all to see
Yet many passed by
Their busy lives subsumed
with their own cares
And joys.
In the blue light
I walked on the pine trail
To see in the sky
The golden sovereign
eaten by the dragon
Moon.

Haha... I so love that and that sort of thing happens to me quite often. I stare at awe frequently and occasionally someone will get curious and want to know what I'm staring at... only to cast that familiar look at me.
I've noticed that our super full moons have been gathering lots of moon gazers out on the beach over the past few years, all communily staring in awe. Some have started holding hands in human circles. I think they've called them full moon sharing circles or something, started to emerge since the covid lockdowns ended.

Nice poem by the way. I had something intellectual to say but my fish brain forgot the details!

I think they are drunk on human connection. I should probably join them... I haven't held anyone's hand in years... hopefully no ones hands are too clammy.

Solar eclipses could be good or meteor showers etc. In a vast land such
as Australia there might be good opportunities to see this Cosmic
engineering and divine symmetry at play. Bet it's a clean and tidy Goldfish Bowl though !!
