I don't think I've ever used it for sky before, as a matter of fact I hardly use it at all. It's called brilliant blue.

Gotten a bit further with it but still lots of work to be done, including on the face!

I must admit I find it real difficult to block in the background and then use that when you paint details on it.
For me it's like having to turn my brain inside out when painting.
At some point -when working on the face- I decided to sod it and to go back to my regular way of painting. Might be the long way round, not sure, but at least it's workable for me, and thus a lot faster.

Hi Fairy, and goodness, so different again !
This one does indeed look difficult but already can see it coming on.

Thank you, Native & AngelBlue.

For now leaving the face for what it is. I will likely tweak it some more later but for now fed up with it. I want to focus on doing the rest and I think this will also help me to get the face right. As it is I'm going over it again and again, more shade, less shade, more, less etc.

I have worked on the jawline a bit so it doesn't look so much like an old lady anymore, hihi.

Thanks for your response re Brilliant Blue. I’ve never come across that colour.

Your face on this picture resembles a Buddha to me.

You're welcome. I bought it years ago. I had never heard of it either until I looked it up on the tube for you, hihi. I didn't really know many names of paint colours when I bought it. I think I just bought a blue.
When used without white it's very strong so I hardly ever use it.

The face is indeed supposed to be Buddha. I'm struggling with getting it right. Bummer is that I'm working on a 40x50cm canvas, which turns out to be quite small for this. NOT if the Buddha's face filled that entire space, but it's on a small part of it, right.
I'll get there, just going to take more work.

Done a bit more work, but holy cow, everything I do seems to be a struggle with this one.

In spite of wanting to move on with other things, I did do tweaks to the ear and face and then finished with the first setup of the hand.
After that it was time to cook tea.

Bit more done today, and now I'm finally beginning to enjoy it as today wasn't such a struggle :)
There may very well be minor tweaks of what I've got right now, but at least I feel I'm making progress.
