Of Apes and Chimps...
I recall how not too long ago, it was taught and advocated that the various aoes were vegetarian, that, they didn't use tools like humans, that they were peaceful, only occasionally quarreling amognst themselves...
how things have changed.
Now, we understand they have battles with other tribes and go on both hunting and war parties, searching for meat for protein consumption... Including that of their smaller monkey cousins.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2759619/Natural-born-killers-Chimpanzees-inherently-violent-wage-war-like-human-cousins-study-claims.html
"A team of 30 researchers studied 18 chimp and bonobo communities over a period of 50 years. The communities experienced varying degrees of human interaction and influence. Researchers discovered 152 instances of killings by chimpanzees."
Seems a bit mild in comparison to humans, no? Neither do they have ballistic weaponry as we do, and, who's population is steadily increasing on the Earth.
Yet, they nevertheless have their gentler side, regarding community and family, just as humans.
From Wikipedia; A "Proboscis" monkey.

An ape here, is shown skewering marshmallows, and roasting them over a fire!
Also, shown... a video on a smartphone of a fellow ape yawning, causes an empathetic response in the viewing ape.
( Does this make you want to yawn? )
