Ramana: "The ego is the subtle bond between the un-Self-conscious body and the Absolute Self-conscious Reality."
Note: Ramana uses a capital "S" in Self to designate the all-encompassing "Self" as opposed to the limited separatist "self" (with a lower case "s").

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru.

I've been re-reading Ramana lately and, when I am reflecting on a passage, I simply post it here. It matters not whether anyone reads it or comments.
Having said that, I appreciate your comment.

Ramana: "When the ego is destroyed through Self-enquiry, there is no karta (doer) nor the three fold karma. The ever-present State of Liberation alone remains."
NOTE: Ramana's views on free-will (see previous post #11) and karma were once very mind-boggling to me.

Ramana: "Retain at heart the advaita-bhava (notion of non-duality), but never express it in (your) action."
NOTE: I love watching people who talk incessantly about the "illusion" but don't act in that manner. On the other hand, as Nisargadatta Maharaj has said, "the self-realized ones are usually very very quiet".
There is a saying that empty barrels make the most noise. As my attorney brother-in-law often says, "Less is more".

Yes,there should be no 'noise' or 'show' of non-duality.
In fact that is not true non-duality. But if aforesaid statement is construed as non-duality is mental or non duality does not impact/inspire actions or non-duality is passivity through meditation only, it is wrong. All true non-dual people were highly active in their life.
This clarifacatory observation is more for other readers than u as u already appear to know it.
Thanks for sharing good quotes on spiritual concepts such as this.

You just made two very important points.
It is well said that self-realized persons are actually very quiet and appear to be quite ordinary since they do not make "noise or show of non-duality".
In actuality, "True non-dual people were (and continue to be) highly active in their life" while often appearing to be quite ordinary ... until they reveal themselves.

Ramana: "Mere academic learning reduces a person to the status of a reproductive machine, if he does not seek to transcend karma."
NOTE: It may come as a surprise to many that there are a significant number of gurus who simply regurgitate wisdom (and that can indeed be helpful) ... but have not yet realized the Truth for themselves. Their knowledge is academic. I can't tell you how many times I have asked spiritual "masters" questions of depth only to realize rather quickly that they were far more limited than I would ever have suspected after listening to them speak.

Ramana: "Since one is ever the supreme Reality and nothing else, it is superfluous to affirm it in thought or by speech."
NOTE: Nonetheless, those who claim to know .... speak and/or write volumes. It is well said in the Tao that "He who says he knows, knows not".
